Day 1 Balikpapan – Mahakam river (Mahakam houseboat)
On arrival you will be met in Balikpapan and Samarinda brought close to Loa Janan, to go your own houseboat for the next few days. On board It's a simple riverboat but clean and tidy.
You sleep on deck under a mosquito net or in an air-conditioned cab. Simple but clean sanitation. Your own cook and sail along the meals are prepared fresh on board. The Mahakam River in Loa Janan is wide. You see a lot of sailing ships, mainly logs and coal. The further we go away from Loa Janan how peaceful the river will be and the less buildings on the shore. There are also dangers in the night. |
With a four-wheel jeep or car (depending on weather) Today we drive to the National Kersik Luway Park. Here, the black orchid grows. We drive through the miles of rubber plantations along the area of the Baduaq and Tunjung Dayaks. In dessa Eheng we visit the old longhouse. In the afternoon back to our house boat that will take us further upstream to Data Bilang.

Day 6 Rukun Dami, Long Baguan (Mahakam)
These two days we sail across the Mahakam river and making several stops like the Datah Bilang and Rukun Damai to make. Daily life of the various Dayak tribes along We are being invited into their typical longhouses where they often live me many families. Accommodation on board. All meals are served on board

Day 8 Tenggarong, Balikpapan (Mahakam Tenggarong)
In Tenggarong we visit the palace of the Sultan of Kutai Kertanegara. We can admire his collection here on the Dayaks.
After a walk we sail to our destination Samarinda. Here we say goodbye to our houseboat and crew. Your driver will take you to the airport for your next destination.
